Originally from Westminster, South Carolina, James came to the Low Country to attend the College of Charleston graduating with double Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Philosophy. After college, he enrolled at the Charleston School of Law graduating Summa Cum Laude and finished ranked in the Top 5 of his class.

During law school, James was a selected for membership in the Presidential Honor Society, as an Academic Success Fellow, the Trial Advocacy Board and the Moot Court Board. James earned an award as the second-best advocate in a National Admiralty Moot Court Competition. While in law school, James earned multiple CALI Awards (for highest grade in the course) in Criminal Procedure, Property, Constitutional Law and Commercial Law.

James represents a variety of clients across North and South Carolina and focuses on general civil litigation, including insurance defense, construction defect, personal injury, premises liability, and class actions.

James has been recognized in “The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch” for his work in Construction Law and Litigation every year since 2024.
